In the spirit of reconciliation, all of us at Bairnsdale Football Netball Club acknowledge the Gunaikurnai people, Traditional Custodians of the land on which we gather & play today. We acknowledge their connections to land, sea and community and pay our respects to their Elders past and present & emerging and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
NAIDOC Week celebrates and recognises the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It’s an opportunity for us all to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth. This year’s theme asks us all to continue to Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! for systemic change.
It was sensational to have our A Graders as the livestream match last week. It was a close, see-sawing encounter and we certainly gave ourselves a great chance to take the points. That illusive win is not too far away…… possibly today. You can do it.
Our B’s need to keep winning to keep their spot in the top 5. It’ll be a real taste of finals netball today as we take it to the current ladder leaders. Make sure you head over to the courts and cheer them on to victory. Our 15’s are in a similar position, in a fierce battle to stay in the 5. We’re sure they’ll put it all on the line today. The 13’s are having a great season and expectations are for a win. Plenty of great netball action from the get-go. Not to be missed.
Tonight, REMEMBER our Black Soirèe. Join us for this exciting midseason event. Ryan Shore & his band will be playing some tunes and finger food is provided. Dress in your finest outfit, (just make sure there’s some black), pay $30- ($20- for U18) and you're in.
Last week, goal of the day went to Liam Giove with a swinging right boot at speed from the depths of the pocket whilst Brayden McCarrey’s mark with the flight and pirouette deserved more than a point.
Our 16’s showed character to come back after a disastrous start. They didn’t get the win but salvaged a draw and showed a lot of ticker. No slow starts today… It’s a must win to remain in the 5. The 18’s continue to win regardless of ins and outs. With senior call ups & injury, personnel changes have been a constant so far this season and the boys are taking it in their stride. Keep the momentum going today.
Round 11 President’s Club $500- draw winner was Dwyers Toyota, & Peter Dullard Isuzu Ute took home the hamper.
