Rnd 11 Footy Record 2022

It’s sponsors day today. Each & every sponsor plays a vital role in the success of our Club. Thanks for your commitment to community sport. We believe having a presence in the Gippsland League is good for footy & netball in East Gippsland. Your support makes it possible.

A special welcome & thank you today to Redlegs & Bulldogs legend, Brian Royal. Among his many accolades including All Australian, Western Bulldogs Team of the Century, Victorian representative & Charles Sutton Medalist, Brian is also a much revered member of our 1981 LVFL Premiership team. Brian is guest of honour & keynote speaker at our sponsors lunch today. We thank Brian for making a special contribution and a memorable occasion today.

In the end, it all came down to a kick after the siren last week where our best possible result was a draw. A 5 point loss signalled a game of missed opportunity. The twos had a great win and an injection of youth in our forward line changed the game. Well done to the 3’s players who doubled up after playing in a commanding win earlier in the day. Our 4ths won convincingly. Well done to the players who went over & stepped up for Morwell & to our coaches who saw the benefit to all of this happening.

In a tough day on the courts for our netballers, our A’s showed how much they’ve improved across the first round since meeting Morwell in rnd 1, our B’s had a day they’d prefer to get out of their mind and move on and our C’s worked at it all game against the top 3 Tiges. The 17’s pushed a finals contender all game only to fall short. Our 15’s won a really important battle with the Tigers to leave them 1 game clear in 5th and our 13’s played strongly to win and hold firm in the top 3.

REMEMBER Saturday 9th of July is the night of our Black Soirèe. Join us for this exciting midseason event - a Black Soirèe (that's a fancy word for Party) Ryan Shore & his band will be playing some tunes and finger food is provided. Wear some black, pay $30- ($20- for U18) and you're in.

Round 10 President’s Club $500- draw winner was Bairnsdale Advertiser, Bob Yeates. Saltwater Properties took home the hamper.

Mark these dates in your Calendar. Always fun to be had with the Redlegs.

9th July Rnd 13 v Leongatha – Black Soirèe

23 July Rnd 15 v Drouin – A Night At the Races

13th August Rnd 17 v Wonthaggi – Reverse Draw

If ladder position means anything, today promises a full day of close and important battles in both footy and netball. In every difficulty there is opportunity. You can either make an excuse or make your move.

“Every action has its pleasure and its price.” Socrates

Challenge Yourself. Good luck to all players and teams.

Go Redlegs.
