Grand Final day is an exciting day and even more-so if you’re part of it. Congratulations to our 15&U & Reserves teams and the Clubs and their committees who are participating today. Well done also to Dan, Brandon, Carlie and the team for a super GL season and a fantastic community finals series. Most importantly, from all of us at the Redlegs, all our best to the players today. Go well.
Our 15&U netballers start as deserved favourites today with a stellar season to date. We haven’t faced Traralgon since rnd 10 and they have gone 8&3 since then and will be formidable opponents today. Our girls handled the semi final momentum swings well and will need to do all that and more to get their hands on the cup today. Grand Finals are and extremely challenging environment and your strong support courtside could just make the difference for a win today.
Our Reserves have taken all before them this finals campaign and their footy is getting better each week. A really tough win over Maffra in the wet last week with a bit of magic from in front of the can bar from Matty Hamilton to top it off. Belief is growing and we’re certain our best is good enough. The yet to be defeated Parrots await…….. Lets all get on the fence and cheers them on for another 80mins of moments and help them get their hands on that cup.
Last week was the end of the line for our 17&U’s. They showed great resilience and persisted through the pouring rain against a tough opposition. Well done on a great season. We’re all very proud of you.
Huge Congratulations to Olivia Pearson on winning 15&U League Best & Fairest. A great achievement. In her true Club First style, she also provided strong contributions to our B & C grade and 17&U teams.
Well done & Thank you to Les Knight, our Joe Hutchison Memorial awardee in recognition of service. Along with engaging with over 130 sponsors, Les takes enormous pride in the presentation of our Club & facilities. As well as cleaning, rubbish, maintenance and an extensive list of things that needed doing, the diligent hours he spent on ground preparation during a soggy June/July were enormous.
Well done to Will Mitchell (2x), Brayden McCarrey (3x), Alison Dwyer & Paris Dunkley on their selection in the Team Of The Year. They’ve all been enormous for us this season and leading from the front. It is fitting they received League recognition for the same.
Well done to our sharp shooters Brayden McCarrey (54 @ 3.2/game) & Ava Langley (479 @ 26.6/game) for toping the goal tallies in the seniors and 15&U respectively.
Well done to all our players. Your commitment, persistence and willingness to Challenge Yourself is a credit to you. Great things can happen when you stay the full journey and build something together. Thank you and we can’t wait to see you in action again in 2025.
